Me and Mine: May 2016

Me and Mine

This very nearly didn’t happen. In fact, it didn’t happen at all in May; I had to coerce my family into posing for a photo at the beginning of June. And as you’ll see from the photo, it’s not great – Ben is sticking his tongue out, Samuel is attempting to dive out of Tim’s hands, and Iron Man and Wolverine have made it into the photo.

Actually, May has been a brilliant month. Highlights have been attending the Blog On MSI conference in Manchester, where I rediscovered my love of Pinterest and had a great, child-free day. And Tim survived looking after both boys all day!

I’ve been out for another afternoon tea at The Garden Kitchen with some lovely friends from church, and out for tapas with some mum friends, so I’ve had quite a social time of it.

Tim has been playing tennis and also finished building our patio. It looks brilliant (I can say that as I had nothing to do with it whatsoever) and we’ve already spent lots of time out there, including the first annual firing of the pizza oven.

Ben has really enjoyed visiting some local attractions recently: Funtazia soft play, Energi, a trampoline park in Preston, and Mrs Dowson’s Dairy Farm during half term. We also met up with two of the girls I lived with at University and went to Trentham Gardens for the day, which was brilliant. He’s really getting into his swimming, and is still obsessed with superheroes.

Samuel has been mastering the art of sitting and is very slowly getting into food. He’s also started to sleep in slightly longer stretches which has occasionally meant that I’ve only got up to feed him once or twice in the night, which is so much better!

First time in a swing!

A real highlight for us was a weekend away in Anglesey with Tim’s family: 8 adults and 7 children, in a big house right on the beach. The weather was lovely, and we spent most of the holiday on the beach. It was just lovely to all be together as Tim’s sister and her family now live overseas.

So it was a really busy month, and a lovely month in that we got to do a lot as a family. The month ahead is another busy one as I’m exam marking, plus we’re having a bit of a holiday down in Somerset with my parents (my Dad has a significant birthday this month). And hopefully next month, we’ll remember to take our Me and Mine photo actually in June!
