For his 4th birthday party, Ben asked for an Avengers themed birthday party. He is still completely obsessed with superheroes, and it’s an obsession that I’m very happy with, now that I understand it! So I had to get my thinking cap on (aka my Pinterest search) and create an Avengers party.
We booked the local swimming pool as swimming is one of his favourite things to do, and I can highly recommend this choice. We had exclusive use of the small pool which was only 0.75 metres deep, and the pool staff provided floats, balls, watering cans and other toys.
The party was at 4pm (also a good choice: the children went home both tired and fed, which was popular with the parents), and the children swam/splashed/floated/poured water over me for an hour. Then we went into the party room.
Avengers Party Food
As usual, I’d had a bit of fun with the food. This was where we really went with the Avengers theme, so on the menu were:
Sandwiches – after swimming, lots of these were necessary!
Hawkeye’s Arrows – Triangle-shaped Tortilla Chips
Thor’s Hammers – Cheese and Pineapple on sticks
Hulk Fruit Kebabs – Grape and Kiwi kebabs
Captain America Kebabs – Melon, Strawberry and Blueberry
Black Widow Biscuits – Oreo cookies with strawberry lace spider legs
Iron Man Cake – I cheated, and got a cake topper from Etsy.
Avengers Party Games
To be honest, after an hour of swimming and then food, we didn’t need that many party games. However, we had fun with these:
Pin the Star on Captain America’s Shield
Superhero Musical Statues and Musical Bumps – Tim happily curated a Superheroes playlist, which I think was appreciated more by the adults than the children.
Of course, all the children went home with an Avengers-themed party bag, which was full of Avengers bits and pieces. They all came in one set which certainly saved me a job!
All the kids had a brilliant time, and the birthday boy announced that it was the best day of his life… You can’t get higher praise than that!
