It’s been a while, but I think I finally have enough time to link up for #littleloves with Coffee, Work, Sleep, Repeat.
It has been the Easter holidays here this week. As a teacher, I do have great holidays, but very often, especially now that Ben is at school so I have both children at home all week, the holidays can be busier than term time! This holiday, I’ve blitzed through my marking and planning so I actually have some time to relax and to blog over Easter, which is lovely.
I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m re-reading ‘Style Your Brand’ by Fiona Humberstone. I’m planning a bit of a website restyle at some point over the summer, and I’m gradually working through the exercises. I’ve been making the effort to write it all down in my lovely new notebook for all things blog-related, and it’s an interesting process. Sometimes I might think I have no idea what I’m looking for, but clearly my subconscious is working on it because then it will become clear!
Tim and I are really enjoying The Last Kingdom on BBC2. We watched the first series and the second is equally gripping. If you haven’t seen it, it’s set in the late 9th Century. England was divided into 9 kingdoms and mostly ruled by the Danes. Uhtred, the protagonist, is a pagan who is drawn into fighting for King Alfred, but ultimately wants to win back his lands in Northumbria.
It’s a period of history that I know nothing about, and I’ve never read the books that the series is based on. It’s completely unpredictable, and we’re gripped by it.
I haven’t listened to much music this week – I usually listen to the radio when I’m in the car, alone. Instead, this week, we’ve had a Disney CD and a Hillsong Kids Worship CD on. We went to a farm park on Tuesday, and both boys had an amazing time – feeding the animals, playing in a huge sandpit, going through the maze, swinging on rope swings and even seeing a baby lamb being born. On the way home, I asked Ben what his favourite part of the day was, and he replied, “Listening to the Disney CD.” Right. Next time, we’ll just go for a drive.
If you’ve seen my Instagram this week, you’ll know that on Tuesday, Samuel and I were up at 5am, so we were making banana bread before 7am. It was actually part of an ’empty the freezer’ strategy as it needs defrosting and I have 2 new trays being delivered, to replace the current cracked ones. But it tasted very good.
I’m also really enjoying a gin and tonic with elderflower cordial as I’m writing this… does that count? I should add that it’s 8.30pm!
I’ve started filming my first vlog! Actually, I’ve filmed it, but I anticipate that it will take me about three years to edit. So look out for it coming to a YouTube channel (well, my YouTube channel) near you!
