Last year, I published a few Things I’ve Been Loving Lately posts, and I really enjoyed doing it. I don’t do many product reviews on the blog but I do love to feature things that I’ve enjoyed using or having.
As it’s been a while since I’ve done a post like this, there’s a few products that I’ve been using a while, and some that I have discovered quite recently. There’s a few foodie bits, a few home bits and some skincare – all lovely things!
Mixed Flower Bouquets
Over the last few months, I’ve been working on my Instagram feed. I’ve discovered that I love taking photographs of flowers. Now, I usually get flowers from the supermarket – and it’s a bonus if they are on offer! But a couple of months ago, I got a £12 bouquet from a local florist. I aimed to get as many photographs out of it as I could.
I spend a very happy morning separating and rearranging and cutting down the flowers and taking photographs. I even managed to take my (to date) most-liked photo on Instagram:
Boots Traditional Skin Care Products
In honour of the Queen’s 90th Birthday, Boots re-released their vintage skin care set, with Cold Cream, Gycerin and Rosewater Toner and Moisturiser.
I’ve been using this for the past few weeks and it’s really lovely, and exceptionally moisturising. It’s only available for a limited time from the Boots website.
Real Handful Snacks
I first tried Real Handful snacks at Blog On MSI back in May. I normally avoid dried fruit and nut based snacks because firstly, I’m allergic to peanuts, and secondly, they don’t have enough chocolate. But many of the Real Handful snacks use pecan nuts, which I can eat, and the flavours are really, really good. I’m going to say that the Mochaccino is my favourite, but with six different flavours, you can find one to suit you.
Crown Hall and Stairs Paint
So we’re decorating… This time, it’s the hall, stairs and landing. Part of this has involved sanding down and painting an orange-brown bannister so that it’s white. The other part is painting the walls from magnolia to a lovely pale grey called ‘Blank Canvas.’ I cannot wait to show you the final result.
I was really drawn to this paint because it’s scrubbable. Now, with two small boys, I know that our walls will have footballs kicked at them, muddy shoes slid across them and no end of bags, coats and small people dragged over them. The paint we choose has to be tough. I was really impressed by this range: not only by the strength (it’s 20 times more scrubbable than normal emulsion) but by the range of colours available.
The Spicery Date Night Subscription
We were lucky enough to be given a subscription to The Spicery last Christmas. Since then, each month, we’ve had a little box through our door with recipes and spices to make an amazing (well, as amazing as I can cook it) three course meal for two.
With two small children, it’s really hard to find time to go out in the evenings, and although we have lovely friends who are happy to babysit for us, we don’t like to ask too often. So a regular – if only monthly – date night is a bit of a treat. It also makes sure we sit down together properly for a lovely evening every now and again!
Our favourite so far has been the ‘Goa’ evening, but we have Date Night in Hanoi coming up this month.
So, there are my Things I’ve been loving lately for the last few months. I love doing these kinds of posts, so I’m going to try to do one every few months. I’d love to know what you’ve been enjoying over the Summer too.
