Every few months, I do a round up of things which I have really enjoyed and want to share with you all. Here’s my Things I’ve Been Loving Lately for Autumn and Winter 2016.
Aveeno Handcream and Leather Gloves
As I’ve said before, I really struggle with eczema on my hands. I’ve tried all kinds of lotions and potions, but my real triggers are stress and changes in the weather. The cold weather is particularly bad for my eczema, and over the last few years I’ve realised I need to get gloves on as soon as the weather starts to change.
Leather gloves are the only thing which really keep out the cold wind and the rain. They don’t irritate my skin like wool does. Marks and Spencers does do the best range, and they last. I’ve bought myself a new pair this Autumn, but last year’s are still going strong too.
When I reviewed some Aveeno skincare, the lovely PR people also sent me some hand cream. This is really lovely stuff, which is both really moisturising and soaks in easily. The packaging is sturdy enough to be tumbled around in a handbag, and I’ve been using it at least daily. It really does make a difference.
OK, I’m a bit of a latecomer to the joys of Aldi. To be honest, I love to do my food shopping online each week and have it delivered, following my seasonal meal plans. However, friends of mine had raved about Aldi, and we have a fairly new store near us.
Well, it was a revelation. I’ve discovered that Monday lunch-time is fairly quiet, and that I can whizz around quickly enough to get everything in the trolley. I’ve been really impressed with the food so far, and, now the Christmas treats are in stock, I’m very happy.
But the best bit is the random things stocked in the central aisles, which seem to change each week. I’m really loving their Christmas decorations, including the gorgeous fairy lights with Christmas tree biscuit cutters further down the page, and my light up cloche. They are so cheap that Tim can’t complain too much either!
Starbuck Eggnog Lattes
Over the last few weeks, I’ve made it my mission to try as many cafe Christmas drinks as I can. (Honestly, I’m doing it so you don’t have to.) As a general rule, I’ve discovered, I don’t really like them. They are usually far too sweet, and I’m not sure that the sparkly marshmallows on top of the Costa Hot Chocolate are really designed for human consumption.
But the Eggnog Latte in Starbucks is my absolute favourite. I do really like nutmeg, and I’m not that keen on cinnamon (unless it’s in a cinnamon roll), and these are my favourite.
You Baby, Me Mummy’s Courses
The blog has really taken a step up this year. From being a casual hobby that I was just pottering around with blindly, I am now becoming a bit more strategic and focused. A significant part of this is because I’ve taken part in You Baby Me Mummy‘s productivity challenge, and I’ve also purchased and am working through her Pitching Masterclass.
Last week, I took part in You Baby Me Mummy’s 2016 Wrap Party which was absolutely brilliant, and really helped me to clarify a few things about the direction I want to take the blog in next year… Watch this space!
My New Command Centre
I’ve achieved at least one of my 35 things to do before I’m 35, and have created a command centre in our hallway. Tim has put up some hooks for bags so it’s pretty much finished. I’ll be posting about how I created it in a few weeks, but it has really made a difference to how we organise ourselves and how we communicate what is happening and what we need to do.
